Phillip Schofield has insisted he "did not groom" the younger male colleague that he had an affair with during his time on This Morning.
In a new interview with The Sun, 61 year old Phillip was "visibly shaking" as he said he understands there will be "massive judgement" after his bombshell statement last week that said he met the man in question when he was just a teenager.
Phillp said: “There are accusations of all sorts of things. It never came across that way (an abuse of power) because we’d become mates.
I don’t know about that. “But of course I understand that there will be a massive judgment, but bearing in mind, I have never exercised that anywhere else." Speaking about the ongoing narrative that people at ITV and on This Morning must have known about the affair, Phillip sad: "I assume somebody, somewhere, assumed something was going on, correctly, and didn’t say anything." The jawdropping new interview follows weeks of intense scrutiny surrounding Phillip, which saw him quit This Morning and admit to having an affair with a much younger male colleague on the show, whilst still being married to his wife, Stephanie Lowe. The 61 year old has seen his once-unmovable crown as the king of daytime TV come crashing to the ground, as he resigned completely from ITV, and was subsequently dropped by his management of 35 years, YMU, as well as multiple brands that have wiped him from their advertising. This Morning was dogged by rumours of a "feud" between Philip and his former co-presenter and once-close pal, Holly Willoughby a few weeks ago, and the pair put on a brave face and carried on presenting together, but there were calls for Phillip to quit.
