Last month, news dropped on who would have the starring role of Madonna in the musician’s upcoming biopic about herself. And “Ozark” star Julia Garner won the prize, beating out Florence Pugh, Sky Ferreira, Alexa Demie, and other hopefuls for the part.

Sky Ferreira has given a new update on her long-delayed second album, ‘Masochism’.The follow-up to the singer’s 2013 debut LP ‘Night Time, My Time’ has been teased on and off for more than half a decade, but in a new interview with NME she has given fans a promising update.“It’s basically done for the most part, it’s just that some parts need to be re-recorded,” she said in this week’s Big Read, before adding: “Just the finishing touches, really.”‘Masochism’ has been a long time coming. After a long and challenging casting process, it appears that Madonna has finally chosen the actor who will portray her in an upcoming biopic.The casting for the long-gestating film has been making news since the project was first announced, and now, according to reports in Variety, the role of the Material Girl will go to Julia Garner.Fans of the singer praised the selection of Garner with one user saying, Maybe it’s too soon to say (we DO need to see the film still) but I’m struggling to think of examples of casting as perfect as Julia Garner as Madonna – & it goes far beyond the physical similarities. Her team is expected to accept the offer soon, however nothing is set in stone quite yet. The 28-year-old has gravitated toward idiosyncratic characters throughout her career, transitioning between the brutish, Missouri-born-and-bred Ruth and the uniquely accented Delvey with incredible ease.

Variety.Another insider connected to the project noted that Garner, 28, has materialized as the favorite to portray the “Hung Up” singer, 63, from over a dozen frontrunners.A different source claimed the “Inventing Anna” star’s team is considering accepting the role. Madonna is set to direct the feature based on her life.The film will follow the “Evita” star’s early life and rise to fame as the world’s foremost pop superstar.
