Patrick Frater Asia Bureau Chief Established only six months ago, Australian premium TV production outfit Lantern Pictures has struck a first-look content supply deal with global distributor Fremantle. Lantern Pictures was established by multi-award winning writer and showrunner Sarah Lambert – the name behind critically acclaimed and popular series “Lambs of God,” “Love Child” and Amazon’s “The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart” – director Jane Manning and TV executive Andrew Lambert. At launch, the company said that its mission is to be Australia’s first showrunner-centric, female-focused production company. “We’re launching a creative partnership between the two companies, one that we’re very excited about, which gives us access to the larger of corporate entity of Fremantle, it’s an alliance of similarly minded creatives and its distribution network,” Andrew Lambert told Variety. “Fremantle and Lantern are creatively aligned so this partnership feels natural and right.

Disney+ has revealed new images for the upcoming documentary series Camden, which will feature the likes of Dua Lipa, Chris Martin, Mark Ronson, Boy George and more.Premiering on Disney+ exclusively in May, the docuseries, which is executive produced by Dua Lipa, will go behind the scenes with some of the world’s biggest music stars, revealing untold stories of how their lives and careers were shaped by Camden.The new images released today (April 26) feature Dua Lipa, Coldplay‘s Chris Martin, Little Simz, Nile Rodgers, Boy George and Yungblud. Also confirmed to feature in the series are Pete Doherty and Carl Barat of The Libertines, Mark Ronson, Questlove, Black Eyed Peas, Soul II Soul’s Jazzie B, Chuck D and Sister Bliss from Faithless.The upcoming series is produced by Lightbox, the production company founded by Academy-Award-winning producer Simon Chinn and Emmy-winning producer Jonathan Chinn in association with Day One Pictures, the production company co-founded by Amy Winehouse’s original manager Nick Shymansky and Radical22.Asif Kapadia is the series director, while the individual episodes will be directed by Toby Trackman, Yemi Bamiro and Sarah Lambert.Check out the first-look images of ‘Camden’ below.Camden is a four-part series and will premiere exclusively on Disney+ in May 2024.

Patrick Frater Asia Bureau Chief A trio of seasoned Australian television industry figures are launching a new production company, Lantern Pictures. They aim to produce a slate of independent TV content and to help implant the U.S. system of creative showrunners into the Australian scene.

Charna Flam Prime Video released the first official trailer for its upcoming original series, “The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart,” which will premiere on Aug. 4. The series will drop with the first three episodes and will be followed by a weekly rollout of the remaining four episodes until the series finale on Sept. 1. Sigourney Weaver stars as June Hart, alongside Asher Keddie as Sally Morgan, Leah Purcell as Twig North, Frankie Adams as Candy Blue, Alycia Debnam-Carey as Alice Hart, as well as Alexander England, Charlie Vickers, Tilda Cobham-Hervey, Sebastián Zurita, Alyla Browne and Xavier Samuel. The new series is based on Holly Ringland’s 2018 debut novel of the same name, which chronicles the story of Alice Hart, her family and their dynamics in the Australian outback. “When Alice, aged 9, tragically loses her parents in a mysterious fire, she is taken to live with her grandmother June at Thornfield flower farm, where she learns that there are secrets within secrets about her and her family’s past. As she grows from her complicated past, Alice’s journey builds to an emotional climax when she finds herself fighting for her life against a man she loves,” per the official press release.

Prime Video has dropped the official trailer for the Amazon Original series The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart starring Sigourney Weaver.

Sigourney Weaver will premiere on Aug. 4. The seven-part series is based on Holly Ringland’s same-name debut novel. According to the synopsis, “When Alice, aged 9, tragically loses her parents in a mysterious fire, she is taken to live with her grandmother June at Thornfield flower farm, where she learns that there are secrets within secrets about her and her family’s past. Alice finds solace in the native plants and flowers growing in her Australian backyard. She, too, begins to grow from her past, but soon must fight for her life against the man she loves.”
