Wanted 'sex offender who faked death caught as tattoos gave him away', court hears
tattoos, a court was told.Nicholas Alahverdian, 34, from America, was arrested in December at a hospital in Glasgow after catching coronavirus.Alahverdian has allegedly used 16 aliases including the name Rossi, is set to be extradited to the US after he fled the country in 2017.He faces charges oversees of identity theft, fraud and a 2008 sexual assault charge.The wanted fugitive was reportedly identified because of his tattoos, after cops gave out pictures of Alahverdian.Jennifer Johnston, prosecuting, told the court: “They have noted tattoos — and scarring on his other arm which is believed to have come from the attempted removal of tattoos.”Utah County Attorney David Leavitts office confirmed Alahverdian’s capture.The office claims he sexually assaulted an ex-partner in Orem, Utah whilst under the fake name of Nicholas Rossi.They say an investigation uncovered other allegations of threatening behaviour towards female victims across other states in the USA. On top of this cops from Rhode Island have said Alahverdian is wanted for not registering as a sex offender.Previously, he had claimed to have late-stage non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a terminal illness that normally kills within weeks.On February 29, 2020, an obituary was published that said he had died – but cops, lawyers and even his former foster family questioned its accuracy.Alahverdian is set to appear in Scottish courts on February 10 for a preliminary hearing.
