At 15, Christina Ricci appeared in a PG-13 comedy called Now and Then, in which four middle-aged best friends meet up to reflect on their teenage selves. Nearly 30 years later, Showtime’s Yellowjackets is that film’s hard-R evil twin, in which the fortysomething members of a New Jersey school’s female football team are haunted by memories of a traumatic plane crash that left them stranded when they were kids. It’s hard to pick a single performance from a terrific ensemble, but Ricci’s portrayal of the twisted Misty Quigley, played in flashback by Sammi Hanratty, is a standout in a series that shocks and surprises.

Variety, the Addams Family and Yellowjackets star was asked if she ever had any traumatic experiences while growing up in the industry.“I was really lucky in that I never had any heinous things happen to me, and nobody ever tried to take advantage of me sexually,” she said. “I was exposed to a few jerks, but for the most part, I was aware enough to understand that those people were being jerks and it had nothing to do with me.”Ricci went on to explain, however, that she “hated” fittings and camera-test days because “I knew those were the days when everyone would look at me and talk about what was wrong with me, with my appearance and what they needed to fix.

While the girls fight over what to do with Javi (Luciano Leroux), who was miraculously found at the end of the last episode and has since refused to open up about what happened to him, and Shauna (Sophie Nélisse) becomes more distraught over the impending birth of her baby, Misty finds herself caught up in a whole new problem after revealing a long-held secret about the plane crash.After Misty and her new bestie, Crystal (Nuha Jes Izman), are forced to empty the bathroom buckets, the two start confiding in each other about various secrets from their past.
