Discovery and other major Hollywood players are pledging support for the Roybal Film and Television Production Magnet, a major educational outreach initiative championed last year by George Clooney and others. Paramount and NBCUniversal/Telemundo Enterprises are also signing on to become founding partners of the Los Angeles Unified School District magnet facility. These companies join previously announced founding partners History Channel/A+E Networks, Netflix and Sony Pictures Entertainment. The group has committed to providing more than $4 million in funding for the school, which opened in August with 150 students at the Edward G. Roybal Learning Complex in downtown Los Angeles.

Bass’ supporters include actors America Ferrera, Kerry Washington and Colman Domingo — all of whom have been involved in Democratic politics on the national level in recent years. Bass is running against Rick Caruso, who has also emphasized his Hollywood ties during the campaign, including support from Gwyneth Paltrow, Kim Kardashian and Katy Perry. Both candidates have vowed to be an advocate for the film and TV industry, which receives $330 million annually in California tax credits. A bill to extend the credit for an additional five years was postponed until next year, meaning the city’s new mayor may have an opportunity to weigh in on it.

The lineup includes Selena Gomez, “Hacks” stars Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder, “Squid Game” stars Lee Jung-jae and Jung Ho-yeon, Amy Poehler, Diego Luna and more. The ceremony, which aims to celebrate television’s biggest names and shows, will be hosted by “SNL” star Kenan Thompson. The newly announced lineup of presenters for the evening includes four stars nominated for their acting performances: Smart and Einbinder for “Hacks” as well as Lee and Jung for “Squid Game.” Gomez, who notably did not get a nomination for her performance in “Only Murders in the Building,” will still see a chance at holding an Emmy statuette thanks to the show’s 17 awards nods, including for outstanding comedy series.
