Joe Otterson TV Reporter “A League of Their Own” will not be getting a second and final season at Amazon’s Prime Video after all, Variety has learned from sources. The show was renewed for what was meant to be a shortened final season back in April. The first season consisted of eight episodes, while the second season was meant to consist of just four.

EXCLUSIVE: Despite all paranoia on behalf of exhibitors and studios that the theatrical release schedule will switch-up more due to strikes, awards season fare continues to be dated, the latest being A24’s dark comedy Dream Scenario starring Oscar winner Nicolas Cage on Nov. 10.

Whether singing covers of artists such as Britney Spears or telling jokes, making faces, pointing and dancing, the comic holds our attention.

Written and directed by Chelsea Peretti, First Time Female Filmmaker lives in the self-deprecating world of meta storytelling. Debuting at the Tribeca Festival in Spotlight Narrative, Peretti put so much of herself into this narrative, it could work as a documentary. It’s also such a comically honest portrayal of what women must endure if they want to get ahead in any career, let alone the theater business. Having to constantly prove to yourself and others that you are capable is so exhausting, but can also be rewarding if you are set up for success. Many are often left to fend for themselves, and the film shows one way of how that can happen.  

Ethan Shanfeld Brooke and Cary are back as television’s funniest forgotten siblings in Season 3 of “The Other Two,” returning to HBO Max with two new episodes on May 4. The first season consisted of eight episodes, while the second season will consist of just four. “Making this show and seeing the impact it has had in the world has been an incredible joy,” said series creators Will Graham and Abbi Jacobson. “While obviously we were hoping for eleven seasons, we’re grateful to be able to continue to tell the story of these characters and this world.” The announcement comes about a month after it was initially reported that “A League of Their Own” would be coming to an end with an abbreviated second season.

Ethan Shanfeld John Early has set his first HBO special with “Now More Than Ever,” a stand-up comedy hour in the style of a “gritty ’70s rockumentary.” Airing on HBO and available to stream on HBO Max in June, the special will feature “stand-up and explosive song covers from Britney to Neil Young, intercut with Spinal Tap-esque backstage sketches.” Among his other credits including “Would It Kill You to Laugh?” and “Search Party,” Early is known for whipping out his famous Britney Spears impression on late night television. Perhaps he’ll reprise his rendition of “Lucky” or Spears’ lesser-known Christmas song “My Only Wish (This Year)” in the special.
