Solar Opposites hasn’t even begun its fourth season and Hulu is already wanting more: The streamer announced today at New York Comic-Con that it has renewed the series for a fifth season.

The Garbage Pail Kids animated series that David Gordon Green was developing with Danny McBride and Josh Bycel is not dead yet.

Dan Stevens is voicing Korvo in the upcoming fourth season of Hulu’s adult animated series Solar Opposites. He is taking on the role from series creator Justin Roiland who exited in January when Hulu Originals and Solar Opposites studio 20th Television Animation severed ties with the writer-producer-performer after he had been accused of domestic violence.

Selome Hailu Hulu has renewed adult animated comedy “Solar Opposites” for its fifth season. The news was announced at a panel discussion about the series at New York Comic Con on Thursday. The Season 5 renewal comes before the show’s fourth season has even debuted. Season 3 of the series arrived on Hulu in July, with Season 4 set to premiere with 12 episodes sometime in 2023. The series has aired several holiday specials, most recently “Sinister Halloween Scary Opposites Solar Special,” which arrived on Hulu on Oct. 3. Justin Roiland, best known for creating Adult Swim’s “Rick and Morty” with Dan Harmon, co-created “Solar Opposites” along with “Star Trek: Lower Decks” creator Mike McMahan. The series centers around a team of four aliens who are evenly split on whether Earth is awful or awesome. Korvo (Roiland) and Yumyulack (Sean Giambrone) only see the pollution, crass consumerism and human frailty while Terry (Thomas Middleditch) and Jesse (Mary Mack) love their TV, junk food and fun stuff. Their mission is to protect the Pupa, a living super computer that will one day evolve into its true form, consume them and terraform the Earth. Season 3 saw the group of aliens strive to become less of a team and more of a family.

Disney-owned networks, studios and streamers will host 18 panels at Comic-Con later this month in San Diego.

It is described as a multi-generational comedy about an upper middle class family handling grief, identity, and a reevaluation of their roles following the death of the family’s patriarch.“I’ve been a huge fan of Josh’s work since our time together on ‘Telenovela’ and Grace and I share similar ‘Texican’ backgrounds,” Longoria said.

Solar Opposites pair Grace Parra Janney and Josh Bycel are developing a single-camera comedy for ABC inspired by the former’s own large Mexican-American family in Texas.

Hulu is bringing back adult animated series Solar Opposites for a fourth season.

The Garbage Pail Kids will go from trading card to screen in an animated series in the works at HBO Max.
