mum of the 10-year-old boy tragically mauled to death by an 8st dog has said that the sentencing of the dog's owners are "not close to justice".Jack Lis was savaged by an XL bully dog, named 'Beast', which was shot to death by police at the scene of Lis' death, while visiting a friend in Caerphilly, South Wales.But the sentences given to Brandon Hayden, 19, and Amy Salter, 29, who owned the dog, has done little to help Lis' mother, Emma Whitfield, who has launched a petition for Hayden and Salter's sentences to be reviewed.READ MORE: Horrifying CCTV footage shows 8st Beast lunge at child as owners jailed over killer dog Mum Emma has said she feels as though she has "failed Jack" and doesn't believe appealing the sentences in court would do much.Emma said: "Deep down I’m not sure whether I will ever get the chance to appeal, but I have to do everything in my power to try. "If I don’t, I will feel as though I have failed Jack."Salter was sentenced to three years imprisonment while Hayden was slapped with four years and six months detention in a young offender's institute.
