A teenager took part in the ferocious murder of his five-year-old stepbrother alongside his step-parents and a couple who trafficked more than 40 vulnerable men to the UK from Slovakia and forced them into slavery were just some of the notorious criminals from across the UK locked up last month.

Other offenders facing lengthy jail terms include the man who murdered vulnerable six-year-old Rikki Neave nearly 30 years ago and an Afghanistan veteran who stabbed his neighbours to death while their young children slept upstairs following a long-running dispute over parking.

A man and a woman were jailed after a 10-year-old boy was killed by a dog in an “utterly tragic and needless event”. Jack Lis was mauled to death by an American Bully or XL Bully dog called Beast while playing at a friend’s house in Pentwyn in Caerphilly, South Wales, after school on November 8 last year.
