More than 240 deliberate fires started in Ayrshire, new stats reveal
Ayrshire were called to a total of 242 incidents of deliberate fire-raising in the space of a few weeks last year.The figures were collated between March and April last year and they represent a decrease of 29 per cent on the year before.In 2019, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service crews across the East, North and South Ayrshire areas were summoned out to 342 needless blazes during the same period.The national service mobilised firefighters to a total of 2,491 incidents of deliberate fire-raising between March and April 2020 compared to 3,658 incidents in 2019 – a 32 per cent reduction.The figures were released as the service launched its annual spring safety campaign.Area commander Ian McMeekin is the local senior officer (LSO) for East,
