was coxswain of the lifeboat for many years. “I fished lobsters with Ronnie Shennan, John Jamieson, Jim Poland and anybody else who could find space for an enthusiastic schoolboy.“My summer holidays found me graduating to working on the fishing boats with well-known skippers such as Gordon Burns, Willie Edwards and formula one racing driver, Innes Ireland.”Ian’s career as a fisherman continued only for a few months after leaving school before he left for college.“One of my old shipmates and school friend, Davie McKie has made a life at sea for himself and has lived in the Isle of Mull for many years,” Ian said.
