Call the Midwife chiefs told to limit amount of blood they show in BBC Christmas episode
Call the Midwife chiefs have to limit the amount of blood they show on the BBC on Christmas Day.Fans of the TV drama starring Jenny Agutter and Helen George are used to seeing graphic scenes as the nuns and midwives deliver babies and cope with medical emergencies. But there is one day of the year when the BBC puts its foot down and tells the producers to keep bloody clips to a minimum.Creator Heidi Thomas tells Radio Times: “Every so often we get into a minor negotiation with them about the amount of blood you can see on Christmas Day.”Fans are currently on tenterhooks over this Sunday’s finale. It looks like TV favourites Dr Turner (Stephen McGann) and Sister Julienne (Agutter) might be killed off. Both were left for dead at the end of last Sunday’s cliffhanger after they were caught up in an horrific train crash.Asked if she would bump such popular characters off, Heidi said: “I’m a very daring woman.”The show has been recommissioned for two more series which will take the story to 1969.Heidi added: “I don’t see us running out of stories any time soon.”Actress Helen has hit back at trolls after getting "ridiculous" messages about the fact she was pregnant while filming the show. The BBC star revealed that she's had messages from people questioning why she was shooting the latest instalment of the East End drama when she was clearly pregnant, particularly when her character Trixie wasn't.Helen – who gave birth to her second daughter, Lark, late last year – took to Twitter to respond to her critics and suggested that people just support each other."I've seen too many ridiculous comments about my pregnancy whilst filming Call The Midwife," she wrote, adding that she thanked those who had sent "the lovely comments"."Women get
