Formula E release new Gen3 car and vow it's like having an iPhone that doesn't exist yet
Formula E chief Jamie Reigle says their new Gen3 car is so futuristic that it's like having an iPhone that doesn't exist yet.The third homologation of the all-electric series' car was launched in Monaco on Thursday, with the message that this is the "future's future".The car, which will start racing in 2023, is quicker, lighter, more powerful and more sustainable than its predecessor - and will now zip around city centre street circuits at over 200mph with the 250kW power being boosted to 250kW.While slimmer than the current car, it also features open wheels, adding more jeopardy to the series' renowned tight races. But it will also be the world's first net zero carbon emission race car, with 40% of the vehicle's power coming from regenerative braking, as well as the body and tyres using natural and recycled materials."Compared to an iPhone, this is the 15," chief executive Reigle said. "That was very much the principle we took when I talked about the future's future."It is only going to hit the track in 2023 and the frame of this car is going to go through four years.
