Formula One decision slammed for making 'no sense' as rain causes Monaco chaos
Formula One officials are facing scrutiny once again following a decision that 'makes no sense' at the start of the Monaco Grand Prix. Rain prior to the opening led to a delayed start as teams quickly changed to wet weather tyres and it was announced that the race would start behind the safety car, with all 20 drivers on the F1 grid obligated to utilise full wet tyres rather than intermediates. That caused plenty of debate, with fans hoping for rain as it would make for a more exciting race, and many were left questioning why the decision was made for the race to start behind the safety car.Among those left scratching their heads was former Formula One driver Karun Chandhok, who posted on Twitter: "Safety car start??!
