Escape to the Chateau star Dick Strawbridge, 64, has revealed the "real reason" Channel 4 decided to finish his and wife Angel Strawbridge's popular home renovation series last year. Escape to the Chateau followed Dick and Angel as they worked on building their forever home within the old Chateau de la Motte Husson in France. The couple, together with their two children, Arthur, 10, and Dorothy, nine, got stuck in and tried their hand at all sorts of DIY works to turn the immense property into a stunning home for them all to live in.

Dick Strawbridge, 62, has shut down rumours of him buying an abandoned chateau.The Escape to the Chateau star took to his Twitter account, where he enjoys a following of 85,700, to set the record straight.Dick had been sent a tweet showcasing a 13th Century chateau that had been “reclaimed by nature”.Twitter user Nickfshort retweeted the post yesterday, adding: “Rather a loss imo.”Truluck_Wilts responded to the tweet, typing: “One for my old friend @dickstrawbridge.”Dick subsequently tweeted: “How silly do you think I am?!? Once is enough…”Dick and his wife Angel have opened up about the joys and struggles they have faced renovating their 19th-century Chateau in their latest book Living The Chateau Dream.Speaking about the book for thechateau.tv they admitted they did not “always agree” during the writing process.They revisited their experience from the beginning of the process.Angel said: “When it’s going on in real-time you don’t have the same thoughts about what’s left of it.”“You don’t stop,” Dick interrupted.Angel went on: “You can’t, you don’t have time to reflect and actually having that moment to write about things [is great].“Money would come in and money would go out in the same day and you don’t think about it.
