prison nurses were suspended after clocking off and going home as a badly beaten inmate lay dying.The NHS nurses were working at Low Moss jail, near Glasgow, when Darren Brownlie, 47, was fatally attacked by three other prisoners in January.The High Court heard last week that Brownlie, who was on remand accused of trying to kidnap a six-year-old boy, was bleeding internally from a ruptured spleen but waited almost five hours for an ambulance.Now, prison sources have told how the ambulance service made a formal complaint after its crew eventually arrived to find Brownlie near death with no nursing care.An insider said: “The nurses had called an ambulance but did not wait, as their shift had ended.
