The 2023 Academy of Country Music Awards (AKA the 2023 ACM Awards) nominations are here!

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic The Academy of Country Music Awards nominations for 2023 are led by two of the newer artists in the genre who have crossed the threshold into becoming stars, Hardy, who has seven nods, and Lainey Wilson, who has six. Following close behind with five nominations each were Miranda Lambert, Luke Combs, Kane Brown and Cole Swindell. Lambert is the most veteran of this crop, having won a record number of ACM Awards over the past two decades. Of the nominations they picked up, Hardy and Wilson share a nod in three categories, as the duet they recorded, the domestic violence-themed “Wait in the Truck,” is in the running for song of the year, visual media of the year and event of the year.

CMT Music Awards!This year, Lainey Wilson leads the charge with four noms, including Performance of the Year and Female Video of the Year, with three nominees tied for second place -- Jelly Roll, Cody Johnson, and CMT Music Awards co-host Kane Brown.Across all categories, CMT is recognizing 21 first-time nominees, with Carrie Underwood, the most awarded artist in CMT history, also earning another nod this year. Hosted by Brown and Kelsea Ballerini -- also a nominee this year — the CMT Music Awards air at 8:00 p.m. ET on CBS Sunday from the Moody Center in Austin, Texas.

Country music's biggest stars are opening up about how they get in the zone before stepping on stage. One thing many of the musicians have in common is they like to stay hydrated and make sure their dressing rooms are stocked with everything they need. Cole Swindell told Fox News Digital that his dressing room always has "plenty of water" and "maybe just a couple of drinks" in case his nerves become too much to handle.

ABC and streamed on Hulu, featured many surprises and breathtaking performances marking the 49th year of the festival.Hosted by first-time hosts Dierks Bentley and Elle King, the three-hour special featured over 30 performances from the world’s top country music artists.The night kicked off with Kane Brown’s stunning rendition of his mega-hit, “I Love You Like I like Country Music.”His performance was followed by Bentley, who teamed up with Billy Ray Cyrus to sing the hit 1992 track, “Achy Breaky Heart.”During the night, the crowd took a moment to honor Grammy-winning Country Music Naomi Judd, who died in April.Her daughter Wynonna Judd then teamed up with Carly Pearce for a rendition of “Why Not Me,” and subsequently received a standing ovation in honor of Wynonna’s mother.Kelsea Ballerini was another showstopper during the night, treating fans to not one, but two of her tracks.Rocking out with a guitar on stage, Ballerini performed “Heartfirst” as well as her latest chart-topping single, “Half Of My Hometown.”Lainey Wilson also performed, singing “Never Say Never” with Cole Swindell.

More than 150 names have been revealed for the lineup, from the superstars to the obscure, for a festival that’s returning to business as normal after a two-year time-out for the pandemic.Among the headliners who’ll be taking the stage for four nights of shows at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium June 9-12 are Luke Bryan, Luke Combs, Dierks Bentley, Kane Brown, Thomas Rhett, Kelsea Ballerini, Alan Jackson, Carly Pearce, Lady A, Zac Brown Band, Parker McCollom, Russell Dickerson, Gabby Barrett and Darius Rucker.The presence of Carrie Underwood and Jason Aldean pretty much guarantees a reprise of Monday night’s CMT Award-winning duet “If I DIdn’t Love You” on the big stage; ditto for Cole Swindell and Lainey Wilson both being named, and the likelihood of hearing “Never Say Never” again.
