Jubilee bank holiday now set for 'washout' weather — but some parts of UK will stay dry
Platinum Jubilee weekend shows rain sweeping across the UK.It comes as a burst of wet weather moving across the North Atlantic appears to have dashed earlier hopes of a 30C bank holiday heatwave, with forecasters now lowering expectations for the Queen's special weekend.Early predictions suggest a low-pressure front from France dampening spirits with heavy downpours from the start of the Jubilee weekend.Weather map data from independent forecaster WXCharts shows a large band of rain covering most of the British Isles from Thursday (June 2) morning. The Queen's Trooping the Colour parade at 11am could potentially stay dry, with rainfall not arriving in the capital until the evening.Further rain is then expected in the south of England and Wales on Friday (June 3), Saturday (June 4) and Sunday (June 5), while areas in the north could see brighter and more settled weather to end the bank holidayHowever, boffins at the Met Office still believe it is too early to rule out a sun-blessed Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend, with one plume of warm air over Europe still looking like it could arrive in the UK just in time.Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Chris Bulmer said: “After a cool start to the week, temperatures are expected to return back to around average through the week. What we’re keeping an eye on for the latter part of the week is how far north this plume of warm air comes.
