It’s gathered over 6000 signatures from across the music industry supporting a declaration that calls for an immediate governmental response to do more to combat climate change.A statement said: “Now, more than ever is the time for the United States to loudly and proactively join the rally to curb and reverse greenhouse gas emissions.“The climate crisis is the greatest challenge of our time, and the power of music should take its place at the forefront of this important movement to create a safer, fairer, more sustainable world.

Coldplay and Michael Stipe are among the numerous artists to have donated songs to EarthPercent’s Earth Day initiative, which has launched today (April 22).Founded in 2021 by Brian Eno, EarthPercent aims “to offer simple and innovative ways for businesses and artists to donate to the most impactful organisations addressing the climate emergency”.To mark Earth Day today, EarthPercent has shared a list of exclusive tracks – including live versions, collaborations and previously unreleased songs – that have been donated by such artists as Coldplay, Stipe, Eno, Anna Calvi and Jarvis Cocker‘s JARV IS…, and can now be bought via Bandcamp.Proceeds from sales of these songs will go towards funding EarthPercent’s five core areas of work: “greening music, energy transition, climate justice, legal and policy change, and protecting nature”. Roxy Music have announced a vinyl reissue series which will see the band reissuing all eight of their studio albums.The reissue series will begin on April 1 when the band reissue their self-titled debut album (which turns 50 this year) and its follow-up, ‘For Your Pleasure’.All eight of the albums have been newly remastered at half speed by Miles Showell at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London.The reissues will also see the albums given fresh, revised versions of their artwork and laminated finishes.The albums will be reissued in pairs throughout 2022. Tom Rogerson has announced that he will release new album ‘Retreat To Bliss’ in March. The record is his first since 2017, and his first fully solo record, his last album – ‘Finding Shore’ – being a collaboration with Brian Eno.A former member of Three Trapped Tigers, Rogerson wrote ‘Retreat To Bliss’ following a series of life changes, including moving back to Suffolk, where he grew up, from Berlin.

Brian Eno has explained why he doesn’t agree with the current NFT craze, saying it allows artists to be “little capitalist assholes”.Hundreds of artists have begun selling music, artwork and other items as NFTs (non-fungible tokens) this year, with the crypto content criticised by many due to the format’s effect on climate change.In a new interview with The Crypto Syllabus, Eno was asked about his views on NFTs, and why he hadn’t released anything in the format yet.He replied: “I’ve been approached several times to ‘make an NFT.’ So far nothing has convinced me that there is anything worth making in that arena.

Cillian Murphy will return to BBC Radio 6 Music next month to present a new series of his show Cillian Murphy’s Limited Edition.The Peaky Blinders and 28 Days Later actor previously hosted the show, which featured an eclectic mix of music, spoken word and poetry, last year.The new six-part series of Limited Edition will begin on October 31 at 12am, and will see Murphy discussing some more of his favourite music.The show will feature “a nocturnal playlist, made for after midnight,” according to a press release.

Brian Eno will launch a new Sonos Radio HD station, called The Lighthouse, today (June 8), which will delve into his extensive archive of work.The innovative musician, producer and visual artist is one of the latest curators to join Sonos Radio HD, which is now available in the US, UK, Germany, The Netherlands, Canada, Austria and France.The Lighthouse will see Eno exclusively share unreleased music from his archive, covering pieces written and composed earlier from his career until now. “The music that will be broadcast from The Lighthouse covers a pretty broad period,” he said in a press statement.“The earliest track we have at the moment is from 1990.
