David Gilmour has announced ‘Luck And Strange’ – his first solo album in nine years with the LP’s first offering being released later this week.The former Pink Floyd guitarist is set to release the album’s lead single ‘The Piper’s Call’ on Thursday (April 25) on the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show.

The track’s accompanying music video will be released on Friday (April 26).‘Luck and Strange’ is set for release on September 6.

The LP was recorded over five months in Brighton and London. His wife – author and lyricist Polly Sampson – previously documented Gilmour’s studio visits and shared the photos on her personal Instagram.A post shared by Polly Samson (@pollysamson)His upcoming fifth studio LP was produced by David and Charlie Andrew (Alt-J, Wolf Alice).

Speaking about the new working relationship in a press release, Gilmour shared: “We invited Charlie to the house, so he came and listened to some demos, and said things like, ‘Well, why does there have to be a guitar solo there?’ and ‘Do they all fade out?
