K.J. Yossman David Bowie is to be posthumously honored on London’s Music Walk of Fame. Bowie, who is one of the best-selling musicians of all time, will join other British music legends including Amy Winehouse, The Who, Soul2Soul and Madness by getting a stone inlaid into the pavement near Camden Town tube station in London. Bowie died in 2016. He would have celebrated his 75th birthday this year. The ceremony will take place on Sept. 15 followed by a private event with guests expected to include Bowie’s friends, fans and collaborators.

The 66th BFI London Film Festival is set to host the world premiere of Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, the Oscar-winning director’s dark take on the classic fairy tale about a wooden marionette brought to life to mend the heart of a grieving woodcarver named Geppetto.

Amy Winehouse film Amy, is to create a new docuseries about Camden’s musical history.The four-part series, titled Camden, is being created for Disney+, and its reveal comes as part of the announcement of a handful of new projects for the streaming service, including a Keanu Reeves-starring documentary about a Formula 1 team, a show on the recent ‘Wagatha Christie’ trial and another documenting fashion in the ’90s.A synopsis for the new show reads: “Camden is a four-part original documentary series, brought to life by Lightbox, the production company founded by Academy-Award-winning producer Simon Chinn (“Man on Wire”, “Searching for Sugar Man”) and Emmy-winning producer Jonathan Chinn (“LA 92”, “Tina”) and Asif Kapadia, Academy-Award-winning director of Amy. Day One Pictures, the production company co-founded by Amy Winehouse’s original manager Nick Shymansky, with Jasper Waller-Bridge and Ben Friedman, also serve as executive producers.”It adds: “How has a small corner of North London changed music as we know it? This evocative series will reveal the extraordinary untold stories of how the lives and careers of many of today’s most iconic music acts were shaped by Camden, alongside some of the careers that were broken by it.

Unveiling its scripted slate at the Edinburgh TV Festival, Disney+ also announced a slate of high-end original unscripted titles. In addition to “Wagatha Christie” (working title) the platform is set to premiere docs from Keanu Reeves about Formula 1 (which Variety first revealed in July), Asif Kapadia about London’s alternative capital Camden Town, Bear Grylls’ about Spencer Matthews’s missing brother, and Conde Nast with an inside look at Vogue featuring Anna Wintour and Edward Enninful. Sean Doyle, director of unscripted content, EMEA, for Disney+, commissioned the five projects, which will premiere on Disney+ in EMEA and Asia Pacific and Star+ in Latin America.

The multi-part series will be released in 2023 and will be an honest exploration of all the highs and lows of his 30-year career. Yossman Asif Kapadia, the Oscar-winning guest curator for 2022’s Sheffield DocFest, has unveiled his program A Documentary Journey with Asif Kapadia.Kapadia, who is best known for his documentaries ‘Amy,’ about Amy Winehouse, and ‘Senna’ about Brazilian motor-racing champion Ayrton Senna, opened the last in-person iteration of Sheffield DocFest in 2019 with his feature about legendary Argentine footballer Diego Maradona.The festival, now in its 29th year, was digital only in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic.Featuring “films that have had significant impact for him, inspiring his own style and creative choices as a filmmaker,” Kapadia has selected eight documentaries for the series, including “When We Were Kings” about Muhammad Ali (pictured above).

He read it to his children as a bedtime story and decided to adapt it as an animated film that they could watch.
