cash to pay for their shopping. They have been given a six-month warning ahead of the deadline for using paper notes in stores. The Bank of England has given a September 30 deadline whereby paper £20 and £50 notes will no longer be able to accepted.Anyone using paper notes to pay for items in all retailers, including Tesco, Asda, Aldi, Lidl, alongside M&S and Morrisons will have their transaction rejected. The paper notes in current circulation were first issued in 2007, and features the economist Adam Smith.Polymer £20 notes were introduced in February 2020, with polymer £50's being issued in June 2021.Paper notes have slowly been phased out in exchange for the polymer notes which are more durable. The new polymer notes also have greater number of security features and are harder to counterfeit.People are able to exchange their paper notes at banks and Post Office branches across the country. The Bank of England will also always exchange old notes for new - even after the September 30 deadline.Chief Cashier Sarah John said: “Over the past few years we have been changing our banknotes from paper to polymer, because these designs are more difficult to counterfeit, whilst also being more durable."A large number of these paper notes have now been returned to us, and replaced with the polymer £20 featuring the artist J.M.W. Turner, and the polymer £50 featuring the scientist Alan Turing."However if members of the public still have any of these paper notes in their possession, they should deposit or spend them whilst they can”. Premier League's most bloody injuries – including Alan Shearer's 'Casualty audition'
Lionel Messi's greatness has been questioned because he's never done it on a cold rainy night in Stoke – the implication being that the Argentinian would struggle with English football's combative nature and style, not to mention the weather. But the ugly side of that style of play comes when the big tackles go wrong.Mistakes can happen, and that's when the Premier League's top stars can be left a little bloodied and worse for wear. Here, Daily Star Sport has taken a look at the Premier League's most bloody injuries. The Premier League's all-time top goalscorer was never one to shy away from a dangerous header – and this one left him 'looking like he was auditioning for Casualty'.In a match in April 2003 against Aston Villa, the legendary forward clashed heads with Gareth Barry after just 11 minutes but was bandaged up and sent back out to keep on playing. But the horrific clash resulted in the former England captain requiring stitches and Barry not making it out for the second half.Deep into the second period, Shearer was finally forced off the pitch with blood seeping from his bandaged head as he was replaced by Shola Ameobi.Wayne Rooney was left with blood pouring down his face from his eye socket after picking up a nasty-looking injury in Everton's September 2017 win over Bournemouth.Rooney took an elbow to the face from Bournemouth defender Simon Francis following a challenge in the air, only to suffer more problems just two minutes before half-time when his cut re-opened following a challenge with Adam Smith. The horror injury eventually forced Rooney off the pitch in the 55th minute.Former Premier League referee Graham Poll said Martin Atkinson made the right decision not to show a red card for the challenge.Poll,
