A person has sadly died after being struck by a train between Manchester and Warrington. Emergency crews rushed to the scene of the incident near Birchwood station at around 6.10am this morning (Monday).
Tragically, a person was pronounced dead on the tracks. Their death is not being suspicious and a file will be passed to the coroner, a spokesperson for the British Transport Police said.
No further details on the person have been released at this stage. Some Northern, TransPennine Express and East Midlands Railway services were affected, including on routes from Manchester to Liverpool.
