‘Percy Jackson’ Season 2 Casts Andra Day as Athena
variety.comSelome Hailu Andra Day is joining the Season 2 cast of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” as Athena. Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom, is one of the most important Olympian characters in Rick Riordan’s “Percy Jackson” books, being the mother of Annabeth Chase (Leah Sava Jeffries), Percy’s (Walker Scobell) close friend and fellow demigod.
Day made her acting debut in Lee Daniels’ 2021 biopic “The United States vs. Billie Holiday,” in which she played the title role.
The film earned her a Golden Globe for best drama actress and a Grammy for best soundtrack as well as a lead actress Oscar nomination.
Her other screen credits include lead roles in the 2024 films “Exhibiting Forgiveness” and “The Deliverance,” with the latter also being directed by Daniels.
