Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly open to the idea of handing club captain Fernandinho a role in his coaching staff from next season.
Fernandinho’s current contract is due to run out at the end of this season, and according to various reports, work has begun behind the scenes to draft up a new contract offer for the veteran midfielder.
Now 36, Fernandinho has found himself on the fringes of Guardiola’s squad, having only made 13 appearances in the Premier League so far this season.
According to Brazilian outlet Torcedores, Guardiola is keen to keep Fernandinho at the club as his experience and leadership qualities are a valued asset.
