give birth - and people are just finding out the creepy reason why it became the go to position for labour.Kellie Leonard, who is a journalist and a specialist biomedical scientist within histopathology , often likes to debunk women’s health myths for her 50,000 TikTok followers. But in her recent clip, she has really blown the minds of people when it comes to the topic of giving birth.Having done her extensive research, Kellie has shared why women lay on their backs in labour - and it isn’t just to help the midwives out.In the video that has now racked up 804,000 views, the biomedical scientist explained: “So the reason we give birth on our backs is all because of a male kink, and in case you aren’t aware I’m a biomedical scientist who debunks myths in women’s health.“Before the 17th century it was actually a very common place for women to give birth on all fours, squatting or even standing.“It was actually quite uncommon for them to be lying on their backs.
