dailyrecord.co.ukA pensioner has been charged with assault after a woman’s body was found at a house in Ayr.Emergency services were called to the scene on Whitletts Road following reports of an alleged 'disturbance' on Saturday afternoon.Officers discovered the body of a woman inside the home a short time later.Her death is currently being treated as “unexplained” pending the results of a post mortem.A 70-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

Footage obtained by the Daily Record shows a number of marked police vehicles lining the street on Saturday evening.A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.45pm on Saturday, 2 March 2024, police were called to an address on Whitletts Road, Ayr, following a report of a disturbance.
On police arrival, a woman was found deceased within the house.“The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.“A 70-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with assault.
