A pedestrian has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a HGV on the M66 last night (2 May). Emergency services rushed to the scene near junction three for Bury at around 6.30pm.
Both carriageways had to be shut to allow an air ambulance to land. The pedestrian was said to have sustained "serious" injuries and was taken to hospital where they remain.
No further details about their identity or condition have been released at this stage. The northbound carriageway of the motorway remained sealed off for a number of hours on Tuesday evening to allow police to carry out their investigation work.
