Now his husband Andre Portasio has opened up on how he's finding it though to adjust to life without him. "I really thought that when we got married it would be forever.
I just didn't realise that forever would be so short-lived," he exclusively told Tom Bryant for the Mirror. Paul tragically died at his home in Kent in March last year when he was just 67 years old due to a sudden heart problem.
And Andre's interview with the Mirror is the first time he's been ready to tell the story of what happened 12 months ago, but that he can't bear to be alone at home on the anniversary of Paul's death.
