MPs will hold a minute's silence on Thursday (January 18) in memory of Tony Lloyd following his death aged 73. The Rochdale MP died 'peacefully' and 'surrounded' by his loved ones on Wednesday morning, his family announced.

Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle said that MPs will hold a minute's silence to remember the veteran Labour politician. Making a short statement to the House, Sir Lindsay said MPs will also have a chance to pay further tributes at a later date, as he said Mr Lloyd "was the best of us” and an “all-round good guy”.
