Jeanfield Swifts have welcomed goalkeeper Ben Swinton into their squad ahead of this weekend’s Premier Division game against Glenrothes.Swinton (22) joins the Perth club from Dundonald Bluebell and has previously come through the ranks at Dunfermline and Berwick.He goes straight into the squad for tomorrow’s fixture at the Riverside.“He has a lot of experience for a 22 year old,” boss Robbie Holden said. “Ben will provide competition in the here and now for the number one spot.
He’s a big lad, he is agile and has a very professional background.“He will come in hungry to show everyone what he can do and will be looking to grab the shirt.”Swinton joins highly-experienced goalkeeper Mark Mitchell at Swifts.“Mitch is still a big part of our team but is turning 40 this year so we have to ensure we have plans for the future in place,” Holden added.“Sam Townsley has moved on to ensure he is playing regularly and developing, while Cole Arnold has come through the U20s but could benefit from regular first team experience.“We are keen to see how Cole develops and will have one eye on Sam’s development also.”
