He then returned back to his house and produced a large axe, Minshull Street Crown Court heard. He pleaded guilty to affray and two offences of possession of an offensive weapon, namely an axe, and was today jailed for ten-and-a-half months.
The court heard that on December 15 last year, just after 9pm, a group of youths aged around 15-years-old were seen in the middle of Tower Street in Heywood. “This defendant could be seen close to that group,” prosecutor Duncan Wilcock said. “There was some conversation between him and the group of youths, this defendant was shouting at them and then went into his house and came out with a small object in his hand. “The defendant began shouting at the youths saying they should give him money or “I will f***ing shoot you”.
