staff in all secondaries and colleges in England will be tested weekly in a bid to prevent the spread and keep pupils in education.

Any staff member or pupil who is deemed to be a close contact of a positive case, will also be tested daily for seven days, to prevent them having to isolate.After the initial roll-out to high schools, colleges, special schools and alternative provisions, the plan is to include primaries from the spring.

Under current guidelines, up to a whole school bubble has to self-isolate if one student or staff member tests positive and thousands of pupils have been missing school every week as a result.
