Two men have appeared in court after two brothers were stabbed in the street. Mohammed Ali Saim, 20, and Adam Mehdi Benaicha, 21, appeared at Manchester magistrates court today after being charged by police.

They are both accused of two counts of section 18 assault, and one count of possessing an offensive weapon following an incident on Tuesday night. (Feb 4) Police were called to reports of a stabbing near Rushford Street and Purcell Street in Longsight.

Two men aged 16 and 20, who are brothers, suffered ‘serious’ injuries and remain in hospital, Greater Manchester Police said.

The force described their condition as ‘stable’. Mr Saim and Mr Benaicha both appeared in court on Friday. District Judge Gascoigne said that the assault charges were too serious to be dealt with in the magistrates court.
