mirror.co.ukThe Oxford University shot for Covid-19 has been proven 90% effective, clearing the way for a rapid vaccine rollout in Britain.
The clinical trial results on the two-dose treatment come after rival jabs by Pfizer and Moderna were found to be 90% and 95% effective, respectively.
But the Oxford vaccine is far cheaper as it part-funded by the Government, made here and can be stored in normal fridges at -3C to -8C rather than at -80C.
This means it costs £2 to £3 per dose compared with £30 for its rivals. It will also go further than was first thought as it is most effective when the first of its two doses is a half-dose – meaning more vulnerable Brits will get vital early treatment.
