EXCLUSIVE: Deadline hears that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is seriously considering locating the 93rd Academy Awards at Union Station, the cavernous main railway station in Los Angeles.
Nothing is set yet, but sources said that is the venue AMPAS favors at the moment.The Academy cannot hold the ceremony in the Dolby Theatre, because of Covid considerations.
Sources said the organizers have considered several scenarios — one was to utilize smaller supper club-type venues in New York, Los Angeles and London, but it looks like Union Station might be a winner.
Evidently, the Academy would like to bring nominees in for the event, and the venue is large enough where social distancing can be maintained for the event on April
