Opening date for new Greater Manchester Tesco store confirmed

A new Tesco store in Stockport will open this week, it has been confirmed. The supermarket giants are opening a convenience store on Mersey Square in the town centre, facing the new Stockport interchange.

The Tesco Express will open its doors for the first time at 8am tomorrow (Friday, November 8). Open from 6am to 11pm each day, the 3,367 sqft store will offer customers a selection of groceries, fresh produce, and everyday essentials.

Bosses say its location is "ideal for shoppers on the go, local workers, and nearby residents." Local groups will also benefit from the Community Food Connection scheme, which redistributes surplus food to charities and community groups every day, they add. However, the chain's nearest store had been the huge Tesco Extra superstore off the Portwood Roundabout. A spokesperson for the firm said: “We are extremely excited to be opening our new store and providing great service to our customers.
