A “nuisance” was knocked unconscious and suffered a fractured skull when a farmer floored him with one punch during a town centre disturbance.A sheriff said this week that first offender Andrew Nisbet had shown “considerable restraint” under provocation before finally lashing out at the man.

Scott O’Connor, prosecuting, said the incident happened near a bus stance around 2.30am.Police had already spoken to the man about his behaviour and he had been thrown out of a chip shop.
