tennis star Novak Djokovic has been confirmed among the entries for next month's ATP Masters 1000 at Indian Wells - where only vaccinated players will be allowed to play.
Event organisers have said that players and fans must be fully vaccinated against Covid. That could prove an issue for Djokovic, whose vaccination status caused significant problems at the Australian Open last month.
The Serbian star was technically deported from Australia not once but twice as his bid for a record-breaking 21st Grand Slam ended before it had even begun.Djokovic had received a medical exemption that he thought would allow him to compete, but he became embroiled in a Visa saga that eventually saw him deported and unable to challenge for the first Grand Slam of the season.
Current travel rules in the USA, where Indian Wells takes place, prevent any unvaccinated foreign travellers from entering the country, barring "limited exceptions".That rule alone puts Djokovic's participation in doubt at the California event.
