Get the stories that matter to you sent straight to your inbox with our daily newsletter.North Lanarkshire will move into the toughest tier four lockdown restrictions for three weeks from Friday.It means all non-essential retail, hospitality businesses other than takeaways, gyms, hairdressers and indoor visitor attractions will be closed until December 11.Schools will remain open, unlike during the original lockdown in March; but travel restrictions asking people not to leave their local authority area will now become law rather than just guidance.The First Minister made the announcement at the Scottish Parliament this afternoon, with North Lanarkshire becoming one of 11 council areas in the west of Scotland to move into the highest.
