North Lanarkshire Council agrees on winter plan as rationed grit bin provision focuses on areas most in need

Get the stories that matter to you sent straight to your inbox with our daily newsletter.North Lanarkshire Council has agreed its winter service project for 2020-2021.The plan contains no changes from last year and covers only normal services, not major events such as 2018’s Beast from the East.Following February’s budget, grit bin provision has been rationed to focus on the areas most in need, with the overall number being reduced by 20 per cent.Maps of gritting routes are available online and there are also plans to introduce real-time information about gritting operations this winter.Committee convener Michael McPake said: “What we should remember from last year is it was really a cold winter.“They were out gritting from late September.
