Nintendo has announced it will axe its Nintendo Gold program that rewards gamers for purchasing games. It's just ahead of the full Switch 2 reveal, which is scheduled to happen on April 2, 2025.
The loyalty program has been going since March 2016, with players earning points for each Nintendo purchase they made via the Nintendo Store.
You can also claim the Gold points for buying physical game cartridges and redeeming the points on a Nintendo Switch. Gold points could then be redeemed for additional purchases on the Nintendo Store, making games cheaper than their retail prices.
However, this is all set to come to a close on March 25, 2025 as Nintendo has decided to shut the program down forever. The announcement came via a blog post, which reads: "Thank you very much for your continued support of our products. "On March 25th, 2025, the ability to earn Gold Points will end.
