Coronation Street fans have taken to social media in a flurry of concern following the shocking turn of events that could spell the end for Jack P Shepherd's character, David Platt.

In tonight's episode (Wednesday 5 March), viewers were left gasping as David and Daisy Midgeley were struck by a speeding car, leaving them both seriously injured.

It's known among fans that David had orchestrated this crash with Andy, intending to meet his end as a means to shake off villain Harvey Gaskell and safeguard his children.

After drowning his sorrows at the pub, David exited the Rovers, fully aware of his impending doom. However, the plot thickened when Daisy, fresh from storming out of the pub, unwittingly walked into the path of the oncoming car.
