First Minister said the largest immunisation programme ever seen was a welcome development but added it was still unclear how the world would look by the middle of next year.
It comes as a new report prepared by scientific experts shows that travel across the UK and abroad helped being new strains of coronavirus to Scotland over the summer, fuelling a second wave of infections.The paper, which was prepared for the UK Government's Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies, highlighted the role of travel in “reigniting outbreaks of the virus after it has been suppressed”.The First Minister said the report showed that travel restrictions are a “vital part of tackling the virus and trying to keep it contained rather than allowing it to spread.
