A woman whose mum died with coronavirus in a care home claimed elderly people have been “written off” in the crisis. Sandra O’Neill said 88-year-old Mary Masson died at Almond Court in Drumchapel where she said other residents appeared to be moved in with symptoms.
She said the care home and staff were “wonderful” but raised questions about the lack of hospital treatment and testing. Her heart-breaking ordeal was raised with First Minister Nicola Sturgeon as evidence of a “national scandal”.
Sturgeon has already accepted a public inquiry will have to be held over decisions to rapidly move around 900 elderly people from hospital to care homes across Scotland without routine testing.
