Newcastle have reportedly identified Liverpool ’s Xherdan Shaqiri as a potential summer transfer option if the proposed takeover of the club goes through.
The Magpies are subject to a £300million bid from a Saudi-led consortium but the deal has still not been passed by the Premier League, who are conducting tests.
A successful takeover could see the Premier League outfit become the richest club in world football and a raft of transfer activity can be expected.
Some huge names are already been banded around with the likes of Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale one name being linked. But, like it did for Manchester City, it could take a couple of years until the elite players can be attracted.
