Newcastle fans chanted "we want Brucey out" as Steve Bruce's 1000th game ended in defeat to Tottenham.Bruce, 60, had been expected to be relieved of his duties when he met the most prominent members of the club's new Saudi-led consortium, Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi, last week. But he was given a stay of execution as the club released a statement confirming his position as manager, in the short term at least.
