Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has ruled himself out of the race to replace Steve Bruce as Newcastle United head coach.
Bruce, as expected, was relieved as his duties as Magpies boss on Wednesday morning following the recent Saudi-led takeover at St James' Park.
Bruce, who spent nine years at Old Trafford as a player, was appointed as Newcastle boss in July 2019 and, from day one, struggled to win over the club's supporters, despite guiding them to 13th- and 12th-placed finishes in each of the last two seasons.
Bruce was always expected to be shown the door by the Magpies' once the new owners were in place as they look to lead the club forward in what is set to be an exciting new era.
