WhatsApp is adding a new feature to restrict how often messages are forwarded to people. The encrypted messaging app is adding a beta feature which will stop you from forwarding messages to more than one group chat at a time. This is on top of a feature which marks messages as frequently forwarded if they've been sent more than a few times. It means your group chat is going to have to up its game and start coming up with something original, rather than just ripping off memes from elsewhere on the Internet.WABetaInfo said: "When a message is marked as forwarded, it’s no longer possible to forward it to more than one group chat at a time. "If you need to forward this message to more than one group chat, you need to select the message and forward it again."The feature will likely also have the benefit of stopping 'chainmail' scams as well as fake news online.

It is available on the new Android WhatsApp Beta 2.22.7.2 update via the Play Store. To test out the new feature, you'll need to sign up to the Android WhatsApp beta. This isn't always open to everyone as numbers for the beta programme are limited.
